Project Overview

The goal was to ensure that the sound design contributed meaningfully to the storytelling and heightened the emotional impact of the performance. My process began by analyzing the script in detail to understand the narrative beats and emotional tone of each scene. I then created and edited custom audio clips to match these moments. After establishing where and how sounds should be introduced, I developed a comprehensive sound cue list to guide the live execution of the audio. This cue list was then programmed into QLab to ensure precision and reliability during performances. One of the main challenges was balancing technical execution with artistic intent, ensuring that audio cues aligned perfectly with actor performances and scene changes without distracting from the story.

Role & Responsibilities

For this project, I was responsible for the entire sound design process. I analyzed the script to identify audio needs, produced and edited sound clips, developed a comprehensive cue list, and programmed cues into QLab.

Workflow

My workflow began with a detailed analysis of the script to identify where sound could support the narrative. After this, I created and edited audio clips using editing software, ensuring each piece fit the scene’s mood and timing. I then built a cue list to map out when and where each sound would occur, and programmed this list into QLab for precise execution.
