Soundbites Studio
This project involved creating a detailed 3D model of Soundbite Studios, a frequent venue for student productions at the USC School of Dramatic Arts. Using Vectorworks, I drafted an accurate digital representation of the space to support future productions and improve the accuracy of design documents.

Project Overview
While learning Vectorworks, I saw an opportunity to recreate Soundbite Studios as my first major 3D modeling project in the software. Having previously worked on the production of Women Of by the Aeneid Theatre Company, I noticed that the existing 2D ground plot lacked important details such as accurate dimensions, power outlet locations, and physical obstacles in the space. This made planning and production setup more challenging than necessary. After the conclusion of Women Of, and in preparation for another production (Mirror by The Brand New Theatre Company), I revisited Soundbite Studios with the goal of producing a fully rendered 3D model. I conducted a detailed site survey, taking photographs and recording measurements to inform the modeling process. Using Vectorworks, I built out the full space, incorporating all key architectural features and technical elements. The final model provided a more reliable and precise reference for future productions, allowing designers and technical teams to plan more efficiently and avoid common surprises during load-in. This project also gave me valuable hands-on experience in 3D drafting and spatial visualization, which I’ve since applied to additional design work.
Role & Responsibilities
I was responsible for the entire 3D modeling process of Soundbite Studios, from conducting site surveys and collecting reference imagery to building, refining, and rendering the final model in Vectorworks. I also evaluated and corrected inaccuracies in previous ground plans to ensure the new model would serve as an improved design resource.
Workflow
I began the project by reviewing the original ground plot used for Women Of, identifying missing or inaccurate details. I then conducted an on-site survey at Soundbite Studios, taking photographs and precise measurements of key architectural and technical elements. Using this reference data, I modeled the space in Vectorworks, starting with the basic room structure and progressively adding detailed features such as outlets, obstacles, and rigging points. After multiple rounds of review and refinement, I rendered a final version of the model that was used to support pre-production planning for Mirror and can serve as a reusable asset for future productions.
